My little daughter slipped under the bedcovers with me this morning. I smiled and took her into my arms, enjoying her warmth and the easy way she fits into my arms. After a sweet time of cuddling, I asked if she'd had enough love and wanted to get up for breakfast.
"I can never get enough love," she responded.
"There's always room for more," I told her, and she agreed with me.
I pondered the truth we'd recognized. Love carries the unique ability both to fill us and to let us crave more. We can never get satiated or "sick of" love like we can candy. While sometimes we limit our ability to give, most of us have an endless capacity to receive love. Even some of the most seemingly irredeemable members of our society will tell you they long to be loved.
How is it practical that we would have this endless appetite to receive love when none of us are capable of giving endless love?
It all makes sense when we remember that, according to the Bible, "God is love."
